Barry L. Anthony
February 12, 1933 - July 24, 2010
Barry Lincoln Anthony died at home Saturday, July 24th. He was the husband of Joan (Trump) Anthony. They observed their 56th wedding anniversary in June.
Born February 12, 1933 in Upper Tulpehocken Township, he was the son of the late George M. and Ella M. (Hiester) Anthony.
He graduated from Hamburg High school as valedictorian of the class of 1950, went on to Penn State where he was a brother in the agricultural fraternity AGR, earning a BS in poultry husbandry in 1954.
Barry served in the army in Alaska. Upon his return he joined Geo. M. Anthony and Sons as poultry breeder. He earned an MEd from PSU in 1971, after which he worked as a computer programmer and programming instructor.
He was active in the Strausstown Lion’s Club, was a scoutmaster, sang in the church choir and played the bass fiddle with “The Olde Towne Minstrels”. He was an avid tennis player with the senior men and played daily piano duets with his wife.
He is also survived by a son Thomas C. married to Linda R. of Sunnyvale, CA and a daughter Jeannette married to L. Michael Banobi of Seattle, WA. There are five grandchildren Jason, Kurtis and Laura Anthony and Catherine and Aaron Banobi.
He was predeceased by two brothers Gilbert and Donald Anthony.
Funeral services will be private Saturday, July 31 from the Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main Street, Bernville, with internment to follow in Strausstown Union Cemetery.
There will be a public viewing Friday evening from 7 to 8pm in the funeral home.
