Howard D. Madeira, 94, of Bernville, passed away Saturday, July 17th at 12:14 PM in his residence.

He was the husband of Lillian M. (Long) Madeira to whom he was married to for 64 Years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harry E. Madeira and Carrie (Nittinger) Madeira Lorah.

He was employed by the former Curtis Stevens Embry, Reading for 42 years and many years as a supervisor.
He was a member of St Thomas Church in Bernville.

He was a former Bernville Borough Councilman for 27 years, a member of the Bernville Lions Club where he held the position of Lion Tamer and Tail Twister with perfect attendance, and a member of Williamson Lodge # 307, Womelsdorf, Scottish Rite and the Shriners of Reading.
He spent many hours doing wood working.

Additional survivors include, two sons, Philip H. Madeira and wife Marie of Bethel and Eric R. Madeira and wife Gina of Leesport.
Also, two step granddaughters and two step great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter Melanie Madeira who passed away in 1971.

Memorial services will be Thursday July 22nd at 11 AM in Kirkhoff Funeral Home, 206 N. Main St., Bernville with burial to follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Bernville. Friends and family will be received Thursday one hour prior to services in the funeral home.
