Barbara A. (Kilheffer) Baker, 82, wife of Robert E. Baker of Corn-wall Manor, with whom she recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary, died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at home.

Born in Harrisburg on Nov. 27, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Harold E. and Mary G. Rhoades Kilheffer.

She was a 1944 graduate of New Cumberland High School and a 1948 graduate of Lebanon Valley College with a B.S. in chemistry. She taught science and math in various Berks County schools, most recently at Sacred Heart School in West Reading, where she retired.

She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Laureldale and a former member of its Congregation Council and various church committees.

Prior to moving to Cornwall, the Bakers lived in the Reading area for many years. She enjoyed traveling, especially with Elderhostel. She counted a trip to the Galapagos Islands with her husband among the highlights of her travel life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Virginia S., wife of Steven L. Hoffman of Seaford, Del.; Robin L., wife of the late Robert J. Thomson of Parker, Col., and Deborah A., wife of Neil D. Buckley, of Overland Park, Kan.; a son, Paul B. Baker, husband of Tracy E. Allgier-Baker of South Annville, Lebanon County; 11 grandchildren; three great-grand-children; a nephew and a cousin.

She was preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, her daughter, Margaret A. Baker, her brother, Richard E. Kilheffer and a niece.

A graveside service will be held in Laureldale Cemetery Thursday at 3 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Cornwall Manor's Levi H. Zerr Chapel Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1009 Elizabeth Ave., Reading, PA 19605-2630; or Cornwall Manor Society, PO Box 125, Cornwall, PA 17016-0125.
