HELEN L. SHADLER, age 96, formerly of Temple, who resided at the Hearthstone at Maidencreek from August, 2005 until July, 2009 , passed away Friday morning at the Mifflin Center where she resided since July 2009. She was the widow of Daniel B. Shadler who died March, 24, 2003.

Born in Reading she was the daughter of the late George C. and Mary Jane Helder Burkhart.

Helen had worked for more than 24 years as a box machine operator at the Luden’s Company, Reading.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Church, Shillington and was a member of the Pikeville Rod and Gun Club.

She is survived by 1 son; Wayne D. Bright and his friend Jessie of Reading. 1 half sister Doris Wentzel, Easley, NC. 1 grandson Rick, husband of Pat Sassaman, 1 great granddaughter Lindsay Coleman and her 4 children, Gavin, Dade, Chase and Quinton.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 am in the Milkins Funeral Home, Inc., 4914 Kutztown Rd., Temple, with the Rev. Barry S. Zimmerman officiating. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp.
