Mary Helen Burkey Robinson (nee Stoudt) 92 of Williamsburg, VA passed away peacefully from this life in her sleep on February 11, 2010.

Born in 1918 she was a daughter of the late Rev. Dr. John K. Stoudt and Helen (Reber) Stoudt of Leesport.

She attended Ontelaunee High School and graduated from Ursinus College, class of 1939. After a year of teaching elementary school in Shoemakersville, she married Charles A. Burkey of Hamburg with whom she had three sons during 18 years of marriage.

In 1966 she relocated to Pittsburgh, eventually marrying S. Warne Robinson, then Chairman of the Board of G. C. Murphy Co. On Robinson’s retirement in 1980 the couple retired to Williamsburg, VA where he died in 1993.

Mary Helen cultivated a life around beautiful things, art, music, theater, antiques, interior and fashion design. She was an avid pianist and singer her whole life through. Walking through the door to her home lifted everyone’s aesthetic spirit. She was a woman of hope, cheer, and courage and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by sons Charles S. Burkey of Hamburg, Williams S. Burkey and wife Diana of Collegeville and John S. Burkey and wife Patricia of Niskayuna, NY and grandchildren Lara Heacock and husband Jamal, Julia H. Burkey and William T. Burkey. She was predeceased by a brother Mark R. Stoudt.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 PM in St. John’s Gernants United Church of Christ, Ontelaunee Township with the Rev. Patricia Schang officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday one hour prior to service time in the church.
